IRLA Releases Videos from 8th World Congress on Religious Freedom
Plenary presentations from the 8th World Congress on Religious Freedom are now available online, together providing a broad, multidisciplinary perspective on current global challenges. The Congress, held last year in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, drew together some 550 attendees and guests representing some 65 countries. The three-day event included an extraordinary line-up of religious leaders, academics, and religious freedom advocates, each bringing a unique view on religious freedom as a precondition to strong, peaceful societies.
The World Congress video archive features some 35 speakers, representing a wide range of religions, institutions and organizations, including: Asma Uddin, director of strategy for the Center for Islam and Religious Freedom; Knox Thames, Special Advisor for Religious Minorities in the Near East and South/Central Asia at the US Department of State in Washington, D.C.; Elizabeta Kitanovic, Executive Secretary for Human Rights and Communication, of the Conference of European Churches; Rev. César García, General Secretary of the Mennonite World Communion; and, Richard Foltin, Director of National and Legislative Affairs in the American Jewish Committee's Office of Government and International Affairs in Washington, D.C.
