Elie Henry, Deputy Secretary General

Dr. Elie Henry, PhD, was elected as Deputy Secretary General of the IRLA in October 2025, representing the Church before governments, international organizations, and other religions and fostering constructive relationships.

Born in Haiti and raised by Christian parents, Dr. Henry developed a love for God’s Word and a passion for service. Answering God’s call to ministry, he pursued theological studies in Argentina, France, and Jerusalem, earning a PhD in Theology with a specialization in biblical languages.

He began his ministry in Haiti as pastor, professor, and dean, later serving as executive secretary and president of the Haitian Union of Seventh-day Adventists. In 2000, he joined the Inter-American Division, where he served successively as vice president, executive secretary, and finally as president of a vast and diverse territory spanning South America’s northern countries, Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean islands—a flourishing mosaic of cultures and faith.

For more than four decades, Dr. Henry has dedicated his ministry to proclaiming the love and soon return of Christ, leading with humility, and fostering unity in the mission of the Church. He shares this journey of faith and service with his wife, Kétlie, and together they are blessed with three daughters: Annelise, Elizabeth, and Irma.
